FAQs

Do I have to be a student at one of these partner schools to apply for the Lenfest Scholars Program?  Do I have to be a junior in high school?

Yes, only students attending one of our 23 partner schools are eligible to apply for the Lenfest College Scholarship Program.  Students apply the year before their high school graduation, so for most students, that is during junior year.

Are you adding any new partner high schools to the list?

At this point, we are not adding any new schools to our partner high school list.  A school that is interested in becoming a partner school can contact us at contact@lenfestscholars.org

I am a sophomore at a Lenfest partner high school, but I am on track to graduate at the end of my junior year.  Can I apply?

We have had Scholars who graduated from high school at the end of their junior year.  In consultation with the high school administration who can verify that an applicant is able to graduate at the end of the junior year, we will accept applications from students in tenth grade.

How much is the scholarship?

The Lenfest College Scholarship Program will provide each Scholar up to $12,000 per year for four years toward the cost of attendance at an accredited US private or public college or university.

What is a Last-dollar Scholarship?

A "last-dollar scholarship" is a scholarship designed to fill the gap between what the financial aid package for a student offers and the true cost of attending the college.

If I am selected as a Scholar, do I get anything else besides the scholarship?

Absolutely! In fact, Scholars receive quite a lot.  From the time they are chosen, Scholars receive comprehensive college counseling, individualized standardized test preparation, and extensive personal support throughout the college application and decision process.  That support continues throughout and after college, with an assigned advisor who works with you during your four years of college and career support during and after college. Plus, you join a community of Scholars and Scholar alumni who will offer advice, support and friendship.  Once you become a Lenfest Scholar, you are a Scholar for life!
