Our Program

The Lenfest College Scholarship Program is not simply a scholarship opportunity for high-achieving students who desire to attend college. Starting from the time they are chosen, Lenfest Scholars join a community of learners and leaders who aspire to make a difference in the world.

Our Support

Beyond a (last-dollar) college scholarship of up to $12,000 per year for four years to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school, the Scholars receive:

  • Comprehensive college counseling starting at the end of the junior year of high school that continues through their decision on the high-quality college or university they attend

  • Guidance to and funding for college visits around the country

  • Fully funded individual standardized test preparation

  • Advocacy on their behalf with the colleges they applied to

  • Information, support, and guidance on understanding the college financial aid process

  • Support in preparing holistically for their college experiences

  • Laptop funding as they head off to college

  • Funding to make possible special educational experiences, such as internships and conferences, during their college years

  • Counseling and support throughout their time in college

  • Career services before, throughout, and after college

Our Impact

We expect our Scholars to be leaders in their communities and professions, and we provide support and guidance to help them achieve and exceed those expectations.

Further, we do extensive outreach with our partner high schools to support not only the Scholars, but the entire institution. We aim to continue affecting positively the public, rural high schools we serve by offering professional development for staff and faculty regarding the college admissions process and workshops on elements of the college process for all students at the school.

"Coming from a small town, there is a hurdle that we all face; it is a pull to do what we are used to and what makes us comfortable especially since there are such few resources to tell us otherwise. My advice would be to step out of your comfort zone and apply to things that are uncertain or seem like a reach, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome and even more surprised with what you are capable of."
